"They were wrong about you.” Aiba's smooth voice broke the silence inside the car.

"Who was?" Asked Sho, his eyes not turning away from the road.

"Your parents..." Aiba added.

Sakurai had to slightly look away from the road to find the other on the passenger’s seat, lost in thought as he faced the dark road ahead.

"No matter what they say about you, your work is not a waste." His words were serious, missing that shimmer they always reflected like a sunshine.

Sho sighed, his fingers fidgeting on the steering wheel. "You heard...?"

"Of course, I heard." Aiba shifted in his seat, his eyes turning to the window. "... I wish you would have said something."

"It's not that easy."

"Then you're just going to let them humiliate you like that?"

"Masaki, I've tried," the car came to a halt at a red light. "Believe me... it's not as easy as it sounds."

"Then I should have said something." Aiba crossed his arms.

"What would you have done?" Sho's tone was almost derogatory.
"I would have stood up for my boyfriend."

A silence filled the car, their sights fixed away from each other. The light switched green and the car sped up. Sho's sight shifted from the road to Aiba, trying to find his face which he so diligently hid from him.

"I'm sorry." Sho finally said, yet Aiba remained unwavering. "I shouldn't have let them say such things. Not in front of you..."

"It doesn't matter what I heard, Sho. The fact that they still say those things..." Aiba's words stopped dry, trying not to stir his discomfort.

"I know, and I hate it just as much as you, but... I think I've already admitted there are just things I can't change."

"It's not fair..." Aiba added. "After all you've done to prove them wrong."

Sho looked at him with a guilty feeling in his eyes. "I imagine it's much different than yours."

Aiba turned at him questioningly.

"Your family."

Aiba thought on it for quite a while. "I suppose... We were just raised differently." He tried coping with the thought.

"I think... I just never felt the need to say anything," Sho spoke honestly. "Because I never regretted anything."

Aiba looked at the other and the smile that was now drawn in his lips.

"I've always known that meeting you was one of the best things that has ever happened to me, so I never felt the need to fight them because they've always been wrong. My proof is right here... with you." Aiba was thankful Sho's eyes were still fixed on the road, for he never saw his eyes dampen. "What else could I ask for?"
